First off, I'm not real big on .380acp. But I saw an interesting deal for a Sig P232, and I am in the paperwork process of getting my concealed license. Figured if I don't like it, I could move it along and recover my investment easy enough. So I'd like to hear some impressions of this gun, particularly as a carry piece. And is the price as good as I think it is?

Sig 232, excellent 95+% condition
2-tone, stainless slide
Night sights
Hogue grips + original plastics grips
Holster, box of PMC, 2 mags, and orginal case/paperwork

Sounds like a solid deal to me.

I own four Sig's .. and 2 of them are .380's


My 2 .380's are a

P 230SL



and a P 232 SL



Both of these guns have had a lot of shot's down range w/o a problem one.

As far as the .380 caliber it's self - with or w/o +P loads they are a very good self defense round.

Old timers (myself included) didn't use to think much of .380's,

but the new rounds penetrate as good as some 9mm and .38's - lot's of tests to prove it.

Looks like someone may have beat me to the punch on this one, but I'll keep an eye on it. Still not sure which direction I'll head for CC, or even how committed I'll be to carrying. But I figure it (paperwork/training) is a process worth beginning and I'll see where it goes.

I've owned a couple of these and they are very elegant, good shooting guns. A little large for the caliber but they sure feel good in your hand. Many folks sneeze at the .380 for a carry gun but I don't. I carried my PPK constantly until I got my Sig 238. It's hot here in SE GA and small/light is a real good thing...

Looks good to me! I prefer larger calibers for carry, but I'm not going to knock on the .380. With the defensive ammo they have these days it is a formittable round. It also opens up alot more carry options.

.380 ammo has a pretty steep price and is a little rare compared to 9mm, something to consider.

Thanks for the info. It seems like a gun that sort of bridges the gap between the less shooter-friendly pocket subcompacts and bigger but less concealable regular compacts.

I guess one way or another you'll always conceed something between performance and convenience. The p232 seems like a nice compromise.

I have a 2010 P232 and it's too undependable to use as a carry weapon. I was told 'I bought the best', and it is been at the Sig repair center and in the gun case.

Paid $600, and another $250 in ammo and range fees ... cheap guns get expensive fast. Sig says I need to run the $40 ammo for dependability.

I could have bought a CZ-83 for $210, and shot $9 ammo all day long.

I can honestly say I've never had issues with my 232 not firing a certain type of ammo, or being unreliable at all. I shoot standard Remington loads which are not pricy.

Never had a jam, stovepipe or miss-feed. I enjoy how accurate it is for it's size, and the fact that it is easy to cc.

Definitely a firearm that I recommend to friends

The later model Sig 232s have a problem with the breech face (it's missing the shell containment recess). The shell never hits the extractor, instead it uses the ejector to fling the shell out.

My 232 is a 2010 model, so maybe earlier models weren't effected
