Sig P230

So I just bought a sig p230 yesterday and took it out todsy. I put at least 75 rounds thru it. It jammed 3 times. 2 times it jammed when I pull the slide back and let it forward so load the pipe. The round didn't want to to into the barrel and I had to clear it. The 3rd time it did it in the middle of the clip. Any idea why or how to fix it?

Well not to offend but it sounds like user error.

New pistols should always be field striped cleaned and lubed prior to first shooting.

Use only hi quality new ammo federal, umc, and so on.

Make sure your rounds are well seated in the magazine and rack the slide violently in order to chamber a round properly.

Sigs have a very strong braided recoil spring and will be very stiff at first.

Make sure your grip is proper and no limp wristing the piece.

I own a sig and its never jammed on me not saying they can't but they are not known for it.

Good luck

No offense taken. I was just so excited to go shooting (along with being busy from the time I bought it until I shot it) that I forgot to clean it first. Usually as soon as I get a gun I fully disassemble and clean it.

I was using federals and herters.

What was happening is it was like the round had troubles coming out of the mag. (totally assuming as I dont kmow pistols much) The way it jammed the round was in the chamber at almost a 45 angle with the bullet just above the back of the barrel. If it happens again ill take a pic.

Not to be argumentative, but the newer model of this gun, the P232, is famous for jamming.

Theres your problem right there... :)

All kidding aside, is this a new pistol or used?

Just a thought, try slapping the magazine into the palm of your hand to insure all rounds are uniformly seated. That way they contact feed ramp at the same angle not staggered.

As everyone above said, give it a good cleaning, and then re-oil it and give it another try. What kind of ammo were you using. Sometimes guns can be a bit picky on the ammo they want to use, so I would recommend next time you go get a few different types of ammo and try and see if any of those work better.

If its not the ammo.. just wait until you put a few hundred more rounds through it. It may just need to wear itself in. Or it could be a combination of each other.
Personally ive never had problems with federal ammo.

Sigs come packed with gun grease from the factory. My sig was dripping wet out of the box and needed a good cleaning.

Clean your gun oil your new pistol.
