Ruger has a 357 /38 that has an extra cylinder for 9 mm

Normally, revolvers are cheaper than semi-autos.

Everyone should have at least one .357.

Comparing the two calibers, is like trying to decide on buying a convertible or an SUV.

My first store purchase handgun was a Ruger Security Six. Someone had modified the grip to accept Police Six grips. Gun was built like a brick SH.

Thats one of my favorite sayings. I never get a good opportunity to use it though.

On topic with the thread, youre not comparing between the two, youre deciding which direction you want to go first. Id go with the revolver between those 2 choices.

I'm going to go against the grain here, and recommend

the 9mm. A very sensible, economical round.

The 357 is fraught with over-penetration, recoil, generally

too much power, additional cost, and limited magazine space.

Unless you have a need for a round, of the same general radius

as a 9mm, which is propelled by 3 times as much powder.

The point wasn't to parse words, argue technical terms, but just an

opinion. Now, instead of lurking your every thread, and picking

every technical gaff apart, I'll merely state that in the comparison

of the semi-357s, (as in DE357, for instance, although I'm given

to understand there are a couple new ones) the mags are limited,

compared to the substantially higher capacity mags of a 9MM

auto, but if it will make you happy, I'll waste the extra time,

and space, to needlessly say "limited round space a five or

six shot revolver offers."

There. NOW you can sleep peacefully, tonight, JW357.

Something to keep in mind. The original question was not just 9mm vs. .357 mag. It was a S&W SD9 vs. an EAA Windicator.

From what I know of both weapons, I'd rather have the Windicator even though in general I'd rather have a 9mm auto.

I was just joshin' with ya man. I didn't mean anything by it and certainly wasn't being serious. I couldn't put it in green font at the time, otherwise I would've.
