Default Sheered Extractor Again....(less than 300 rounds)

Back to factory my DE .44 Magnum goes. The hook on the extractor sheered cleanly off again. Last time it happened it was at about 500 rounds out of new gun, gun back shooting, ejecting and feeding exceptionally well. Yep, happened again today. Am thinking that DE needs to give me an upgraded pin (like titanium if available) and/or fix the gun so there is not so much stress on this hook.

When the hook sheers off, does the case in the chamber still get extracted or do you have to put something down the barrel and tap it out? If you have to tap it out with a rod, is it difficult like the case was stuck or something?

Glad i don't fix firearms for a living, lots of variables.

I don't know if i know enough to know what i am thinking, but yes, i wonder if the case isn't ready to come out yet or if it is stuck in there like the old laquered Russian ammo would in AK-like rifles.

I remember reading about the trouble with the powder switch on the first M-16's and how the fielded powder had a higher "port pressure" than what the testers used. IIRC, that caused the gas to go through the gas tube faster and try to kick out the empty case before it was ready to be kicked out, contributing to a FTE problem usually solved by ramming a rod down the barrel to manually extract the spent case.

I think i may be out of my depth here. It is my understanding that the DEagle's work more like a gas-operated rifle, rather than a normal-type pistol (blowback or short recoil).

edit* Store bought ammo, or home-loaded?

Does seem strange to break two extractors in under 800 rds.
Never heard of a DE 44mag having that problem but i know squat about them.

The 44 Rem Mag is a rimmed cartridge not designed to be used in an autoloader. It headspaces on the rim and is probably stronger than the straight sided rimless cartridges designed for auto guns.

A well designed autoloader extractor would not break but shear off part of the brass if the case was stuck in the chamber.

The gun has a rotating bolt so it's not a timing issue.

Two failures in <1K rounds speaks volumes to the design of the DE extractor.

Feedback from gunnies at range said the DE has gone downhill since Kahr took over, they stated mine is a Kahr version. Not sure about all that.
