LOL! I'm not rabid, just stating why I went with the XD 9 over the G17. Sheesh, you fanboys are so "thenthitive"!

I agree whole heartedly with Gork. I own a glock and a XD. If I went and bought a 9mm I would get the XD

Actually, the one plastic 9mm I really liked was the FNP. It's similar in operation to the Sigs I use and can generally be had at reasonable prices on the used market. The only reason I traded the one I had is a friend pestered me for months and finally offered me a trade that I couldn't refuse...

Glad you mentioned that.
I've also been looking at the FNP and FNX, but I'm kind of confused as to the difference between the two.

Unless you're totally committed to polymer, Check the CZ 75 series. They can be had for under $500. Another fine option is the Stoeger Cougar. FNs are worth a look. I won't get into the Glock vs. XD discussion except to say that, they are comparable in performance, and it will come down to personal preference. I own a XD40sc.

I'll pitch in for the cz as well. If you need a polymer go with the phantom.

I have wanted a CZ75 for quite some time, they feel good in my hand and the price is not too bad.
Only bad thing about them is my finger is a little too short to comfortably reach the trigger in double action, the tip of my finger just barely reaches.
I would definitely love to have one as a range fun gun, but I don't think I'd be comfortable carrying it because of that trigger being too far away.
