I just got one of the police trade-in S&W 5906 DA/SA handguns that CDNN and others have been selling for quite some time for around $300. Nice 9mm, maybe a little big in the hand and heavy at 38 oz empty but a great hunk of stainless steel at a bargain price. They also have the 6906 which is smaller and has an alloy frame. This one came with Hogue grips and is lightly used with just a few blemishes.

It's clunky compared to a Hi Power but I've always wanted a S&W 59 and this third generation is the best 59 of all.

If you're interested they won't be around too much longer.

I would like to know how many movies this model has appeared in; they seem to be the standard issue for movie cops.

I like the sights, "novak style" i bleve. I want the 10mm model when i grow up.

Thanks guys! Yes the sights are fixed Novaks. Forgot to mention it comes with only one 15rd S&W stainless mag and CDNN is out of spares. So I ordered two Mec-Gar 17rd mags which have a good rep.

The Hogue grips pictured above that came with my 5906 proved to be way too thick so I ordered original S&W flat grips which worked much better for me. I wanted to get the curved back model but it wasn't in stock. Got these about a month ago.







The curved grips finally got back in stock and I got them today. Much better, amazing how much difference that extra hump makes. I really like these.

My first pistol was a s&w 59. But being 37 years old it's a lil worn out. It fails to eject quite a lot. I need to have the extractor replaced and it should shoot good again. But that is a great looking 5906, I would love to have one someday

I really wanted a 59 back in the '70s but never got one. Seemed like something else always came up. Never forgot how much I liked them so couldn't let this last opportunity get away. Definitely get your old 59 running right again, 369, too nice a gun not to! My Colt 45ACP Series '70 is 36 now and I love it as much as the day I took it home.

I'd been searching for a 5906 locally. Couldn't find one anywhere. People were snatching them up as fast as they hit the shelves at local shops. I found this 3913 instead. Much easier for concealment with the single stack 8rd mag. I will still get a 5906 when i find one. These definitely are some damn fine weapons.

My 5906 was my first 9mm, bought back in the late 80's. I have an emotional attachment to the gun and won't get rid of it, despite the fact that it was never a great fit for my hand. I have the curved backstrap, and for some reason it is an awkward feel for me to shoot it one-handed.

But it is a really strong, well made gun, and has been 100% reliable since the day I bought it. There was one failure 20 years ago, but I think that was the fault of the ammo. I have plenty of extra S&W high-capacity magazines that I scrounged for back when the 10-round magazine laws went into effect.

It's too big for routine concealed carry, and I don't shoot it much anymore. So it's been relegated to one of my house guns that are staged in various rooms. But I know that if I ever need it, it will be totally dependable. And I'll never get rid of it.
