I've never even fired a Taurus.
The gun shop where I used to work wouldn't carry them because of QC and customer service complaints. So, I have no basis for comparison.
However, I did
own a Ruger SR9c and I liked it a bunch. The only thing I didn't
like was the stupid loaded chamber flag indicator on top of the slide. I sold it to pay for a basic Rock Island GI 1911 since I'm a 1911 guy.
It's been my experience that the .40S&W is a very snappy round. In a light weight pistol, that can affect reacquiring the target.
I'm just chiming in to hopefully give you some food for thought. It's your call, good luck.
