Maybe if more troops were slapped we would have fewer problems in the military ...

I doubt it.

That was done once ago and it never works well. Militaries that operate on physical violence from officer/nco directed to the troops have massive desertion and discipline problems

Yeah, I bet money, perks, or some other form of incentive would work way better. It would for me, at least. Although I will be the first to admit that some people really need a wicked slap…..

Regardless of General George's Choice of sidearms...

This incarnation of the R51 looks like it could be a winner. Remington had a few Display Models at SHOT but the Booth(more like the size of a Strip Mall Store then a Booth) was Jammed Every time we went over there, I wrote their PR folks asking for a visit on the Podcast from a Rep. They were Nice, but could not say when they'd be able to have someone for us, Unlike some of the other vendors WHO BEND OVER BACKWARDS to help us get the message out!
The exterior design reminds me a bit of the Ruger LC series, but Internally from the write ups I have seen leads me to thinks it's totally different....

Thank you for the info. It looks like I will be picking one up when it is released to be the guinea pig. You can never have too many!

it looks like a solid design, and the few videos i have seen are pretty impressive. but i would like to see how it fares in the real world with real people using it and shooting it with all different types of ammo.

personally i want to handle one and then make a decision. IIRC, it's suppose to be out about the middle of this month. i am pretty sure that it's going to be a bit scarce for a while at first due to intitial demand over a new pistol coming on the market.

Hated the look of it when I first saw a pic of it. But I kept coming back to it...it was intriguing. Now I lay awake wondering when I can handle one! G&A had a great write up and I like the features. Guess I'm somewhat tired of the current look of today's pistols. Don't get me wrong; functionality is first and foremost, but I do like a firearm that gets my blood pumpin!

i was kind of indifferent when i saw the first one. but it does kind of grow on you and it seems the more you look at it, the more you seem to like it's looks.

yes, i'd like to get my hands on one too to see if it lives up to the expectations i am having.

I can now take the Remington r51 OFF of my wish list.

I fondled one a couple of times at the Eastern Outdoor Show today at the Harrisburg, PA farm show complex. It looks good & feels good, until you squeeze the grip safety in and then there is a small gap and edge that hits me right inside the connection of my thumb to my hand. I can tell that with any amount of shooting, it would end up rubbing me raw at that joint.

I'm definitely going to have to rent one or borrow one and shoot it a bit before I commit any money to one.

That's interesting. That's for the tidbit.

I'm still waiting for one to appear in one of my LGS'.

If this is a common problem I'm sure Remington will correct it in later models.
