I have 4 Remington model 51 pistols 2 in 32 acp and 2 380 models. they are a work of art in my opinion. hard to take apart??? most guns seem hard to strip the first time or so, but when you get used to them they are not bad at all. I am going to have to buy one of the new 51's to go along with the old. I really like the 32 acp better than the 380 now don't ask me why as I cant explain it. neither have bothersome recoil, both are the same size I got say Remington made a quality pistol back in them old days. argie1891

It usually takes 60-180 days from a product release to it getting into the Sales chain....

Doc Football hit it on the head.

I was at the Great Eastern Outdoor Show last week and got to handle the r51 a couple of times. It felt good in the hand, until I squeezed the grip safety. With the safety depressed, the inside edge of the frame rubbed on my thumb knuckle at the web of my hand.

For me, I know it's gonna be a knuckle biter, so I took it off of my wish list, YMMV.

I recommend handling and shooting the r51 prior to laying down your hard earned dollars.

The other thing I forgot Re:The R51. Only a Dozen or so people among the Shooting Writers and the Test Employees at Remington even Know what it's like to shoot, and So Far they aren't telling! Again I could only get close enough to See it, but it does remind me somewhat of the LC9/PF-9,. With a little of the Bersa Thunder's curves...but if they really found a way to "tame the recoil" ...

Default R51 thoughts?

Too bad we weren't on the list. I live only an hr. Away by drivable roads from Gunsite( less by the crow flies). Ahh, maybe next year. We'll see if I get "asked" to one of those things after a few more reviews...
