Recoil spring replacement
How often should I replace my recoil spring in a .22 auto handgun? Any basic principles to go by?

If/when you start having jamming/ejection issues. Refer to your manual too. Myself, I figure every 3k rounds is a good measure. They're usually either cheap or free. I had a 22 pistol with issues thought spring could be cause, manufacturer sent me 3 at no cost. Layer found it wasn't the problem, or at least not only problem. Lol

I have a colt huntsman I bought back around 1972 and its still running on that oringinal recoil spring. That pistol has had some many rounds fired it would be hard to quess.

Probably never have to change.

For my carry guns that shoot mostly +P+, every 2000.
For everything else, when they don't work anymore. |
