Welcome to the forum.

IMO, a good, reliable hollow point.
Most "name" brands should work.

"Ball" ammo has a bad rap for overpentration. The military are limited to using ball by the pacts the US has signed with other countries on military ammo.

Civilians are not limited to the same restrictions and should "cheat" as much as possible in self defense.

My PPS 9mm has eaten every type of 115-124 FMJ/JHP ammo I have tried (don't have any 147s)---currently loaded with Remington 115 +P JHPs just because I have a lot of this ammo. I believe most any modern JHP will do the job...
