polymer setup like 1911
Can anyone give me some suggestions of a few guns under the 500 dollar mark that are single action only like a 1911 but with a polymer frame?

So you mean like a glock 1911?!?!?!?

I guess you could say that. I'm just getting into guns and I like the idea of just having to cock the hammer and the gun is good to go. Seems like it would be great for concealed use. The idea of a loaded chamber in a waistband holster kinda freaks me out but if I needed to defend myself racking the slide would take too long and be of difficulty. Hammer fired single action seems like the answer. But a 1911 is just too damn heavy.

There are a lot of polymer guns available, there's a lot of variations of the 1911 I suggest you do some research, some hands on range time and find the best fit for you.

The act of chambering a round with any SA auto cocks the hammer and these are pistols are not meant to be de cocked. They are carried "locked and cocked" and it's safe to do so. Trying to decock an SA only is a recipe for a negligent discharge. Your comfort zone and experience level would be better served with an SA/DA, or a DA only. Tack |

Like tack said above me, da/sa would be the way to go, if you don't have time to rack the slide your not gonna have time to cock the hammer back. My first pistol was a Smith and Wesson model 59 in 9mm. It's da/sa with a safety/decocker. It's very safe and dependable. If I was you I would look for a 5906 or 4506 weather you wanted 9mm or 45 acp. I love having a double action trigger for the first shot, just flip the safety and squeeze the trigger... Bang. No fussing with having to cock the gun, and if your panicking you might have an a.d. With a single action trigger. Just my opinion about da/sa. Hope you find what your looking for. The smith is on the top, there pretty sharp looking.

I never said it was too heavy in general. But I don't wanna lug around a steel frame pistol for everyday carry
