All of my limited knowledge of 1911's is second hand. I own an XD45 that i like very much. I chose the XD45 because i wanted something to shoot, not something to customize or show off, just a pistol that would work when i need it to. I've never taken my XD apart past the basic field strip for cleaning, and i don't intend to unless something breaks.

I view this discussion in similar light to the old "honda vs. harley" discussion, only without the reliability issues tangent. I guess it is also like picking out a hooker: are you plannning on introducing her to your family over dinner, or do you just need a hummer & a nice neck massage, basically.
