I personally carry a Kahr CM9 in my collection. It can work as a pocket gun, but I use as my IWB gun when I want to have a smaller gun. If I want to pocket carry, I usually carry my Kahr P380, one of the smallest pocket guns on the market (smaller than the LCP...), but it is more expensive than the CM9. After a $390 price on the CM9, 200 rounds of ammo, 2 holsters, a CT laser (my wife wants to carry it, too, and she likes the little red dot), and Ranger 147grains, I'm closer to $800 than $400. Just be aware that you will need more than $400.

BTW, don't by a used Kahr. I love their guns, but their warranty sucks and doesn't cover used guns. Did y'all know that?
I had a Kahr CM9 and I hated it. Very snappy gun. I used it for a trade in to help acquire my AR 15.

How do you carry your AR-15 in your pocket? Just jokin'.

Compared to what? For teeny 9mm pistols this gun is actually quite soft in its recoil. I also don't shoot 127gr +p+ rounds like I do in my full-size XDM. Perhaps your ammo choice, josef? Haven't shot many pocket-size pistols? I don't know what you mean.

Found an unfired (trade in) CM-9 at my LGD with 2 mags for $300. Only thing it needed was a set of pinky extensions ($9) to make mine a perfect fit for my hand.
Totally reliable and the original owner never registered it with Kahr. I didn't need to spend more than $400.

My suggestions to look at:

Ruger LC9
Kahr CM9
S&W M&P Shield

Kel Tec has an offering as well, but I'm not inclined to recommend it.

How about a Bersa Thunder .380. Usually under $300.00.
