There is at least 20 answers to which is the best gun.

I have some 1911's, one HK USP 9mm and a Sig 226 Mk25. My pick for a fun gun would be the Sig. It is very accurate and has a great reputation for reliability. I love my 1911's but they are more expensive to shoot in .45 and a little more labor intensive in terms of care/cleaning. The Hk is a fine gun and I shoot it pretty is just not a SIG and not a 1911 that is all...can't really say more. I like them all but that is how I would rank them.

All three you mention are excellent. Truth be told...90% of the $400+ pistols out there are going to be rock solid, provided they suit your specific demands.

I favor CZ 75, BHP, 1911, and Springfield XDm. But there are countless other options that may fit your needs and tastes better.

Handle as many as possible. And if carrying it isn't in the cards, avoid shorter barrels. Set your sights on a pistol with a 4.5" barrel, minimum. It'll almost certainly benefit you.
