Lot of people say the phoenix hp 22 is a cheap gun; it is. But it's a cheap gun that work very well. With the 5in barrel it is very accurate, and you can shoot ALL day for 10 bucks.
The only thing most people dont like is the dual safetys. The gun must be in the safe position to eject the magazine. The slide wont close without the magazine installed. So if you want to cycle the slide (ie before showing the weapon to your best bud) Safety on, remove magazine,lock back slide. Now the slide wont close without a magazine installed, so you must install a magazine to close the slide. To fix this, remove the left side grip. You will see the magazine button, safety and the safety block. The safety block will not allow the safety button to go to the fire position without a magazine installed. With a small screw driver pry the safety block up and clear of the safety. The safety block is peened into the frame. With a few small twists the safety block can be removed. File 13 the part. Now with the safety in the on position the safety slides in to a groove on the magazine button (not alowing eject) with a scribe mark the safety along the magazine button. Remove the safety and file to the scribed line. reinstallthe safety. The little gun now operates like any other. Frank zappa was right great cure.
