There are other pistols that are chambered in 10mm besides the Glock, but I think they fixed the Glocks so that they don't blow up as much any more. The 10mm is an amazing cartridge. Well worth your consideration. Look for full full chamber support so you can run the "hot" stuff

another problem with a pistol like the Desert Eagle is the sheer size and weight of it. think carrying a rifle amount of weight on your hip! a 10mm is probably going to be your best choice if wanting a semi auto pistol.

It's all about cartridge selection.
As stated previously, 10 mm ticks a lot of the right boxes. Guns for it are pretty easy to find. Glock, various 1911s and the EAA Witness pistols. If you want to up it a notch, check out the .460 Rowland.
