Default New Sig Sauer 1911-22

Just picked this up today at Scheels in Iowa City. Some friends were in town and we spent the morning at the range. Once again found myself wanting a semi auto 22. We decided to go to Sheels and window shop. DANG IT! They had this pistol on sale.

Went back to the range this evening with the new acquisition. Fed it every make of 22 we had, and it happily ate it... until Federal (not pictured). Why can't Federal figure out how to make 22 ammo that doesn't suck? I had 3 FTEs in a row, then gave up on the junk.

Shoots fantastic. LOVE IT!

Now I've got a problem. I have to sell one of my other guns to maintain peace in the home.

nice Scott, very nice! congrats on the new pistol.

i too have had problems with the Federal 22 ammo as well. it seems it's the only one i have do have strikes on the rim, but will fail to fire. even the bulk Winchester i use seems to go bang every time, even though it does seem to run a little dirtier than the others i use.

so what are you planning of getting rid of?

Haven't figured that out yet. The 3 candidates are my Ruger SR9c, Kahr PM9, or Ruger SP101. I can come up with logical reasons to trade any of them.

I think what surprised me was how the pistol cycled with the low velocity, sub-sonic ammo. I expected it to hiccup with that ammo if anything. Nope, not one problem.

Congrats!

The GSG/ATI/Sig 1911's have been problematic, but there have also been some gems among them. I hope your's is exactly that. I'd like to hear your thoughts after 1K rounds or so.

I had a GSG. Pretty good initially, but massive failure before 500rds (guide rod broke in half). I fixed the problem and sold it. There are weak points with some of these guns at the guide rod and barrel bushing. But both can affordably be upgraded to SS.

Since you have a GSG 1911-22, you definitely need CW Accessories on speed dial. Stainless guide rod, barrel bushing, barrel end cap, etc.

My GSG does not cycle Federal bulk as well as other brands of ammo, but the weight of the Burris Fast Fire sight is likely a major contributor to the problem.

My phony pony Walther eats everything I feed it, but there is no red dot adding mass to the slide.

Went back to the range on Sunday with it. I've put about 500 through it so far. It had a couple FTF's Sunday with Winchester bulk, but cycled everything else fine. My experience so far has been very good.

I've been looking at some of the after market parts, but at this point I see no need... other than the mods to the magazines. Upping the mags from 10 to 15 rounds is pretty tempting.
