I braved 32 degree weather this afternoon to see how this new Beretta shoots. First off I was amazed at the soft recoil, it is softer than my full size PX4 and way softer than my sub compact. Beretta reengineered the recoil spring and it has a polymer piece enclosing it, whatever they did it works. I fired a total of 200 rounds of assorted ammo and all worked flawlessly. I shot the following.
1. 100 rnds Winchester White Box 115 grn from Wal-Mart.
2. 45 rnds of Federal AE 115,124 and 147grn.
3. 15 rnds Speer Gold Dot 124 grn.
4. 15 rnds Federal HST 147 grn.
5. 15 rnds Winchester PDX1 147 grn.
6. 10 rounds Winchester Ranger T +P 124 grn.
The new Beretta flawlessly ate everything and all the non +P loads had a very mild recoil impulse. The Winchester +P was definately snappier but still comfortable. I shot groups at 10, 15 and 25 yards and this thing is accurate.
Of all the PX4s I've owned this one is my hands down favorite. All the versions are good guns but for anyone thinking about buying one the new Compact IMO is the best one.
This first photo was my 25 yard group from a rest, the 2'nd photo is my offhand group from 10 yards. The third photo is a closeup of my 10 yard offhand group, this is 25 rounds. It was cold, very cold and this being my first time out with it I was very happy with the accuracy.
