I have both a P220 and a P229 (.40 S&W) and am happy I don't have to choose which to keep because I like both. While .45 ACP has the universally recognized edge in knockdown power, .40 S&W is just a little under it -- but quite adequate. The 220 has a 7 or 8-round mag while the 229's is 12. The 220 is a little thinner but the 229 fits my hand perfectly. I generally carry the 229 as I've put a CT laser on it. At the range I enjoy shooting them both equally. Around these parts, .40 in both FMJ and self-defense rounds is more available, too.
Yeah, I wish I didn't have to choose because I would really like to keep them both. Unfortunately, I don't think it would go over very well if I were to say..."ummm, why don't I just hang on to both of the Sigs AND the Python, AND the Browning Citori, AND the Ruger Red Label, AND the 3 Remington 700's, AND.........here, you take the 10/22, it's a great little gun."
