I think I've narrowed my search to the cz 75 b or s&w 5906. Wanted a metal gun, that has some time behind it so reliability is well established. A 1911 was first on my list but with the costs being high on both gun and ammo it was taken off quick. But with that said what is everyone's opinions on the other two pistols. I am leaning toward the cz since it has several features similar to a 1911 like no mag safety and that it can be carried cocked and locked. Anything I'm overlooking with the Smith? Any reasons one or the other may be a better buy?

The CZ is a good gun, no doubt, but the 5903/5906 is an American classic and a very capable handgun. I have several S&W 3rd gens and believe they are some of the most underrated guns available to today (even if you have to buy them used). My 5903 (alloy framed 5906) is a former Atlanta PD gun and has well over 20k rounds through it. Wear has been negligible, it still shoots great, is boringly reliable and is more accurate than I am. I have steered many people to S&W 3rd Gens and none of them have ever complained. I recently picked up a like new S&W 915 for $250. It has all ready proven itself to be an awesome shooter.

If you do get the 5906, MecGar makes a flush fit 17 round magazine for them this is every bit as good as factory.

I can't argue against the S&W, but if it were me I would prefer the Cz. I like the Cz better, I shoot it better and I think it's a really well made piece.

I like both guns a lot. I like the decocker of the Smith but then again like the idea of cocked and locked with the cz because of consistent trigger pull. I think if I lean toward the Smith I may look for the 5903 since its alloy and could present itself as a good carry weapon. I think the cz lacks a little in that area since its rather large and heavy and I'm a smaller framed guy, may be hard to keep it from printing unless I change the way I dress entirely. Anyone carried these pistols?

I went with the CZ75b... and love it! The ergonomics of it are the best I've ever handled in a handgun and the all steel slide and frame eat up the recoil for quick follow up shots.

I can't ever find pistols on that site, o was looking at steyrs awhile back and read they had some good deals but never found them.

I can barely see your avatar pic (it is small - thumbnail size) - but it looks like you are in a Gi and holding a pair of Sai - but behind you it looks like a classroom decoration or something. Am I seeing this right? Are you getting all Ninja on some schoolchildren? :-)

No our school was supported by my teachers church and that was the room we were provided for classes. It was a Sunday school room. And yes Gi and Sai, good eye sir.
