Been eyeballin this guy for awhile comparing it to the XDm 3.8 compact and I finaily broke down and made a choice. The SR9c seemed a little less bulky and I love the MADE in the USA sticker on the case. also liked the 10rd,17rd mag. combo it came with. have not got it to the range yet but am not super happy with the triger pull it not heavy it just feels kind of grity but still 1000%better then my old P Series 45

Thats a dang good question I never thought to ask when I bought it did even cross my mine on a 9mm.. It dosnt say it on the barrel like it does on most .38's and manual just says "The SR series pistols are compatible with all factory ammo of the correct caliber to U.S. standards, including high-velocity and hollow-point loads"

I was looking at the sr9 on saturday and I do beleive it is +p rated. Academy Sports had the Taurus pt609 on sale for $329 I went ahead and bought one, going to the range one day this week to try it out.

Yes from the Ruger web site FAQs:

Ruger Frequently Asked Questions

What type of ammunition should I use in my Ruger 9mm pistol?
The Ruger 9mm pistols are chambered for the 9x19mm NATO Parabellum (9mm Luger) cartridge, compatible with the U.S. and foreign military or commercial 9x19mm loads manufactured in accordance with NATO, U.S., SAAMI, or CIP standards, including high-velocity, subsonic, tracer, hollow point, ammunition loaded in aluminum, steel, or brass cartridge cases, +P and +P+ ammunition.

The Ruger LC9

Quote:

Just received a quick reply from Ruger: "No, the Ruger LC9 is not recommended for use with +p ammunition. This ammunition would reduce the life of the firearm by 50 percent. Recommended ammunition, would be any good American made ammunition manufactured in accordance with NATO, US, SAAMI or CIP standards." Thought NATO was close to +P? Oh well.....

Opinions and facts vary, apparently.....

my dad just picked one of these up in black/black, I've got the xdm3.8 compact, 2 great guns, what leaned me towards the xdm was the thicker grip felt better in my hand, little higher capacity and the grip safety is a great safety feature to me.
