my new P95

I would have liked a Colt or Springfield 45 but I'm happy with this gun. I got some ammo at the last gun show but it is too good for plinking (JHP and +P+) so I'm waiting for the next gun show before going to the range.

Congratulations and welcome here. Can't you find some target/range ammunition? I don't have your patience, I'd be at the range right now. :D

You are gonna like how that P95 shoots, trust me.

I really want to get a Ruger 40 or 45 caliber now because of how well the 9mm model is performing.

The first semiauto I shot was a Ruger P series in 9mm, I've wanted one ever since but the price in Argentina is just ridiculous, they are around $1500. But they are on my wish list.

It is a truly nice pistol. I have a P93 in 9mm (middle), a P94 in 40 S&W (bottom) and a P95 in 9mm (top). The P93 is my favorite of the three but I like them all. These days I carry a S&W M&P 45 but enjoy giving my Ruger P series a work out at the range.

Enjoy:D

Good job on the new gun.
I'm also having to hold off on range time tilll I get more 45s

Thanks for all the kind and helpful replies! :)

Online ammo seems too much of a hassle. I just want 300 rounds of FMJ for around $45-50.

Walmart is always out of 9mm.

The last gun show was great. Great selection, good prices, no hassles. I just wish I didn't buy a box of Winchester +P+ for $38. I'm not sure I should even fire it through the P95. What about that, Sgt? Can the P95 handle 115 gr +P+?

Here is a link about Winchester 127 gr +P+...
9mm Hi Power and Winchester 127

The best way to answer that question is to call Ruger themselves.

Give them a call and ask a Ruger specialist if the P95 can take a +P+ loading.

I have my own personal feeling, but in regards to weapon specs like this, it's better to call the factory.

I contacted customer support. They said...

We do not recommend using the +P+ ammunition in the P95. +P ammunition is fine.
So I've wasted $40 on newbie ignorance. :o
But that is better than the possible ruination of my gun. :D

I like my P85. The only time it seems to FTE is when my 13 yr old shoots it. And even then it's rare to happen. I think he's limp wristing it. (He only weighs about 90 lbs. LOL)

Bleak23 - When is the next local gun show? I think I saw a billboard for one in Ft. Worth, but I don't remember the date. I wish I had gone to the one in Mesquite last week. It's 1 mile from my parents' house and it was the day after my payday.
