makarov operation

I got a 9mm makarov PM and I read somewhere you don't have to cock the gun, you can just pull the trigger and it does it automatically but when I loaded a clip, then pulled the trigger it didn't cock the gun...

am I missing something here?

It's a double action pistol, I would take it to a gunsmith sounds if you have a problem, will not hurt to have it checked out...............

Actually it's a double action/single action pistol. Once you load the magazine, you still have to rack the slide before taking the first shot.

Congratulations on getting one though. It's said the East German ones are best, followed by the Russian, then Bulgarian. I have had only a few easily solvable problems with my Bulgy Mak.

The best ammo I've found is the Silver Bear hollowpoint from Russia.
