The SR 40c is probably the softest recoiling 40 I have shot. I think it come's down to a subjective feeling and how well the gun fits your hand.

You shot sig p250? Fnh 40?

Nope. But, I have shot all 40 cal Glocks, HK USP 40, S&W 4046, SR40c, SiG P229 40 and probably a couple more. The SR had the least perceived recoil for me.

I think they are both excellent options but given my experience with each and ownership of one, I vote for the ruger hands down. It had that just right feeling from the day I picked it up. Very good value for the money and as reliable as anything else I have handled.
