I had the same gun and I would not trust it to protect my wife's life. I traded it for an AK +cash. I would not go under 32 at most for my wife. I have a 38 and my wife could shoot it with out any problems. Don't go to big to fast. You don't want to hurt her and turn her off to guns. Work you way up to the bigger stuff. It will give her confidence and might changer her mind.

Look into the Walther PK380, it's small, light weight, and has very little kick. Match it up with hollow points and it makes a good self defense weapon. I got one for my wife and she loves it.
