IMHO, it's the full-size, and oversize pistols which really shine here.

My Beretta 92 is larger than most 45 cal pistols.

But it is one of the sweetest handling guns I've

ever shot.

It was gas operated and the spring was huge, it wrapped around the barrel, hence absorbing and controling a lot of the recoil.
That's right, that hk p7 is supposed to be incredible to shoot well because of the low recoil and incredible accuracy. I need to get my hands on one. I'll probably buy one if I do.

Polymer? Not sure, but I would imagine that the XDm 5.25 would be a contender.
I think the EAA 9 would be incredible. They're heavier than most 1911's, and have a lower bore. Good choice!

It's amazing how soft the recoil is on the super light Glock 17, even with extra power +P+ LE ammo.

HKs USP Line has a patented recoil reducer (30%) along w full size pistol. Barrel is 4.41" for some reason ? Never understood why it wasn't longer ? Mine is .45 so I can only imagine what it w be like in 9mm. (already soft in 45)

XDM 9 mm - good but not great. Needs longer barrel, lower bore axis, weight up front.

CZ 75 - mine was 80s version and it had a lot of muzzle flip but it wasn't like the SP01.

I have to say the Hi-Power is a smooth shooting pistol. And the all steel and heavy 5906 is soft shooting.

The old P08 Luger does have some muzzle flip but the amazing grip helps tame recoil.

Seen them for well south of $500. Great price for a 9mm.

For 9MM I have to go with Steyr M9, Hi Power ( I have a clone Arcus 98DA). My service pistol is a Glock 23 (.40) muzzle flip is controlable but not as good as the two I mentioned. The larger caliber is probably the reason. My past service weapons have been the Cougar 8000D, the H&K P7 PSP, S&W 669, none of them should make the top ten for least muzzle flip.Much of this is perceived by the individual shooter and their technique.

I like this topic because of its importance, accuracy with speed on multiple follow up shots. But this should be another topic.

I would love to see a more objective scientific approach, Bench rest, background ruler for flip height, weight to measure upward force in pounds

From seeing other shoot the Ruger sr9 and Caracal F they both appear to have low recoil and muzzle flip. Both have extremely low bore and sit very tight in the hand. Both of which are under $500 on Buds.
