As I said, I owned an XD 9mm subcompact, and my son still has one. Outstanding gun. My only complaint was getting used to the rather spongy trigger.
Never owned an XDm, but a relative has one and occasionally has ammo issues. The XDm's have match grade barrels, which are made to tight tolerances. And his gun will occasionally have trouble chambering cheaper ammo, which is, as you might expect, not made to really tight tolerances.

Never had that problem with mine.

I thought about getting a solo but decided, after watching the Shot Show vids, to wait out the Sig p938. I use the Sig p290 right now for pocket carry.
Don't get ripped off just because that's the only gun store close to you. Buy off the internet if you need to, or take a road trip. 500+ is way too much for that XD.
I've got an XD40SC. Never a problem with it. I use and like the holster that came with it. I even have a .357 sig barrel by EFK for it ,again no problems. I carry it sometimes with the holster that's provided. Its a little bulky but not bad,and having 11 rounds of .40 or .357 sig is comforting
