Because a .40 caliber in a package as small as a Solo would be one unpleasant thing to shoot. People are finding that out with the .40 S&W Shield.

This^^.
IMHO, the suck factor of .40 S&W in a gun that small outweighs any theoretical stopping power advantages by a large margin.
I have an XD40SC. It's workable, but by no means "fun." Anything smaller than that strikes me as simply unpleasant.

^^ Agreed. Plus, I don't buy into the whole "stopping power" myth. There is no handgun that is going to knock a bad guy on his ass, real life is not like the movies. I choose a .45 as my carry caliber because I happen to shoot my 1911 the best, plus I like the idea of a bigger hole. Bigger hole=faster bleed out.

when the bren 10 was introduced i had to have one. and because i knew they weren't going to around long i kept in unfired and in my safe , but i wanted a "shootable" 10mm so i bought a colt delta in 10mm and shot it until the damn frame cracked . this was the last of my experimenting with the 10mm , them someone develops the 40s&w , i never bought into the hype , after all it was the 10mm Short and Weak , then i realized except for the fact i could get a 40 in a smaller package or a large framed full size with a 10 to 18 round capacity why.... the smaller framed guns are a bear to shoot and if i went went the bigger gun why not stick with my 45's or my browning hp . the forty was a solution to a nonexsistant problem in my opinion

I personally do find rounds like 40sw, 357sig, etc interesting, useful, and fun (and fun really ought to factor big into the equation, IMO). The real point of a 40sw is of course to marry almost 45acp weight and diameter within a 9mm-sized frame, boasting almost 9mm capacity. I believe there's value there.

But with micro guns from Kimber, Kahr, S&W, etc...I believe the 40sw is in the vast majority of cases an impractical option. It's not about how strong you are or whether you're 'man enough' to shoot it. The simple truth is that above all else in a defensive carry situation, you need to be fast and accurate...and potentially repetitively so. And 9mm is far more conducive to that in micro frames. I love larger calibers and can shoot them well enough. But I carry a 9mm Shield, because it will be more effective for me every single time.

I'm sure there are exceptions to this rule. And by all means, to each their own. I also have a Block 27 (40sw) as a truck gun, but it handles a bit more like a compact than a subcompact. But I do believe for 95+% of all shooters and circumstances, a true micro is better suited for 9mm than 40sw.

The military went from 45 to 9mm. Huge mistake. I was in the army. I loved the 1911. They gave us those **** 9mms and I knew the gov wanted us to die. LOL

I like the 40 cal, and have it in a 1911 frame, and in a concealed carry weapon. And in a big huge Ruger P-94.

For those of you who don't think .40 is capable, you are stupid. It will kill your ass very fast. A 45, being held with stupid folks, will get themselves killed with a person who can shoot a .40. And even good 45 aimers, will die just as quick with a 40 round in their chest, as a 45.

This add was approved by the makers of S&W .40

Dude, chill out, don't take it so personal. It's just ammo
