I guys, I have a Kahr CW9 that shoots low. I have fired over 400 rounds through it and at 10 yards, it is hitting about 6" low. Now someone has told me that its just me and that I'm not used to the DAO trigger. Well all I have ever shot are DAO handguns. My other gun is a Sig p229 .40 DAO that used to be my duty carry and I have owned it for 14 years and I lost track of how many thousands of rounds I have fired through it. Also, I shot the Kahr off of a sand bag while concentrating on my trigger pull with the same results. When I shot at the 10 yard line without using my sights, just point at shoot, I hit center mass with no problem. So I am a better shot by not using my sights . The sights look like they can be adjusted for windage but not for up and down. By the way, I was shooting 115 and 124 grain FMJ rounds from different makers. Do you guys have any ideas what can be done?

Maybe the front sight is not seated right? Or if you are shooting that close try to use just the front sight to aim, I had a cw40 and it took awhile to get use to it. Seems like mine shot low as well.

Go to the Kahr forum and give them a holler.

The first thing I would try is to let two or three friends shoot it. If it shoots low for everybody, start looking at the gun.

I did read your post about shooting well with other guns. But sometimes a different gun in hand shoots differently or brings out a bad habit that doesn't show itself on other guns.

If it is the gun, the Kahr forum sounds like a good idea.

Maybe a different "sight picture" like "6 o'clock" or something?

Small compact pistols, being for close-up shooting, may be set up for a 'combat' sight picture with front sight set at bull's center & if you use a 6 o'clock sight picture, you'll shoot low. As already stated, could also be a tad differnce in trigger angle/pull from your other pistols. Shoot it from a rest, experimenting with the sight picture & finger placement on the trigger.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. I've taken the gun out and shot it some more with the same results. I shot more off of sand bags. I shot both right hand and left hand and no difference. I also tried different placement of my finger. The gun is a natural point and shoot gun for me. When I shoot without using any sights, it hits center mass with no problem but when I aim, it hits about 6" low. Now I don't know what you guys mean when you say using a 6 o'clock sight picture. The only sight picture I use is to align the front sight even with the rear sight with the top center of the front sight centered on the target. With all other guns, I hit where I want.

I have had a cw9 for a few years now and like yours it shoots a little lower at close range than I aim with some ammos. I know the cw is not a long range pistol ether but with some 124gr +P loads it does print higher oddly, so maybe some issues is ammo related. I do practice a high hold point shooting quit a bit. When aimed shooting is used I tend to aim just like i would with any ole cowboy type fixed sights, raise that front site up a bit. Put that white dot level with the top of the rear sights and you will see bullets hit in the head while aiming at the neck area of a target. Just something that has to be learned. No big deal. You can learn to point shoot and have bullets strick higher also, just show the top of the pistol in your peripheral vision. I have some low hitting issues with several fixed sight hands I have.

This is what I was referring to as a 'combat' sight picture, except the dot on the front sight is at center of bull, not the top of the post. Many call it "covering the target" with the front sight.

The 6:00 hold would be with it at the bottom of the bull.
