Kahr CW45
Just picked up a new Kahr CW45 today. This is my first Kahr (also first striker fired pistol) and I can't wait to try it. I have two 1911s, so I'm not unfamiliar with .45 acp. The manual says not to use lead ammo. Should I listen? I can always load up hardball, but I already have quite a bit of SWC loaded. Any recommendations on holsters? I like leather without a top strap.

You should listen! I doubt very much if the new Khar will even chamber the Lead SWCs from the magazine. And I would not recommend it in the Khar. If you should have any difficulty with it cambering HPs I will give you a hint from experience with my Khar. First of all clean it thoroughly before shooting. As I was instructed they do not clean them at the factory after test firing them the final time. I have a Khar P-380 also and it will load FMJ round nose very well! But when using HPs or some of the Critical Defense ammunition I must lock the slide back and by using the Slide Lock only drop the slide by depressing the Slide Lock! It will feed flawlessly and always function with them when firing them. It will not initially feed the HPs by releasing the slide by pulling it back with the hand and releasing it to go forward. I keep the slide rails lubed so they look damp with G-96, Break Free or any other good lube. *Don't forget to shake the Break-Free before use! Anyway, they are a fine pistol and great to carry due to their weight compared to my 1911s. I mostly carry mine in the summer months. As far as a holster I like the Fobus type holster for day to day carry. I know Blackhawk also makes some similar holsters. I carry mine in an ankle holster in the hot weather when it is hard to hide a pistol. Give us some range reports when you get her out on the range!
Send us some pictures of the pistol!

Yes send some range reports with what ammo you used. I am thinking of getting one for my off duty weapon so I will be using hp rounds

I also have a CW45 and it is flawless.

Ammo or bullet types or semi-autos is trial and error . The rifleing on the c w barrel is not a problem just will it cycle them. Please start with a solid well made fmj for the first 100 or 200 rounds. Give it a chance to smooth up and break in well. Then find what defence load works relyably.

Holster?? IWB or OWB

I'd like an IWB holster for it, but I would settle for a nice strong side belt model. I won't be able to shoot it until next weekend. The price was surprising @ $369.

Good price! I have the older "deluxe" model, the P45---mine is all black and truly a accurite, reliable pistol---enjoy!

Check out comp-tac for a nice nice iwb holster. I carry my cw9 at a 2:15 position and have no issue setting/driveing with it also and I am not a skinny guy. Mine is the minotaur neutral . They also have several other forward cant models and designs where you can change just the plastic holster part if you deside to cc your 1911 for 35 bucks I think. Some of there leather is backed by soft glove leather and stiched . Way nicer rigs than most.
