kahr cm9 questions

I have a kahr cm9, went to the range this weekend shooting www. Everything went fine till I got to about 150 rounds. At that point the trigger started feeling gritty which didn't surprise me because it was gettin pretty dirty by that time. What did surprise me is when I pulled the trigger a couple times and it decided to shoot twice with one pull. I'm sure there's a name for that but I don't know what it is. Anyway, is this something to be concerned about? Is there any chance this happening when its good and clean? My main worry is that this is my carry gun and until this last trip to the range had probably close to 750 rounds through it with no problems. I usually only shoot 100 rounds per gun when I go but decided to take 200 with me this time. The first shot hit where it was supposed to but the second threw me off and didn't even hit paper. I always keep my guns clean and don't think it would do it if it wasn't dirty but not sure. Id hate for the time to come I have to defend myself and this happens, the second shot is off target and hits something or someone it wasn't meant to. I've never heard of anyone having this happen with the cm9 so I thought id see what you guys think.

As I recall that is called "doubling" and you are the first person I have heard of experiencing this problem in many years. I don't recall what causes it though but hope you get the issue resolved soon! I will also look forward to gearing the resolution too as I have two SEMIAUTO pistols and never happened to me with these or others I have owned over the years.

I think it happened 3 times that day, I didn't even fire all 200 rounds. Finally decided to pack up and go home to clean my gun and hope that fixes the problem. The trigger isn't gritty anymore but I'm not sure about the doubling problem as I've only dry fired to feel the trigger

Sounds like a dirty fireing pin and channel. Once in a while someone will have the same problem on these forums but never the same makes or models. radom event. Take the upper apart and clean the fireing pin area good and wipe dry, no lube. Pro-shot 1 step is a good cleaner/lube with out the heavy oil feel. Only practical way a semi-auto pistol can double up is if the fireing pin is stuck out. . Use a good synthectic oil for general lube needs like a CLP not rem oil or the likes. I ran both mine thru 600 rounds when new with no cleaning after I started shooting to see if it can handel a little dirt. Gritty?? When brand new some say the trigger can feel gritty. I don't remember if mine where that way or not. Smooooth now.

Its very smooth usually, and wasn't gritty with every pull. Just seems like every few shots was like sand paper

Hard to say unless some grit never got clean out completely or a some little piece of plastic off the plastic rail got into trigger bar connector area.
