BTW i also own one of those "pansy" 40 calibers.
The 10mm simply has the most power I would shoot at something within pistol range. The .40 definitely has its positives, but I love the 10mm...

i think that anyone who is familiar with the ammo ballistics knows the 10mm is more powerful than the 40 S&W, but does that make it a "pansy" cartridge?

i hardly think so. i don't know, but which is a bigger seller as a pistol round in terms of pistols and ammo, the 10mm or the 40 S&W ?

It's popularness has nothing to with the damage it does. I'm not claiming the 10mm is more popular that a .40. The ballistic damage done by a 10mm is explosive compared to a .40. I'm simply saying the .40 isn't as strong...
I think I've struck a major nerve in the .40 community

I'd definitely have to say the .40 S&W. I think most people believe a 10mm is actually a little overpowered for self defense. There is nothing wrong with the .40 S&W.

I'm not going to get into it. I hate caliber debates. They are stupid and pointless because everyone has their preference and very little desire to change their mind.

To the OP, good luck with your choice. It sounds like you're on the right track, in terms of doing research and seeing what feels best in your hands.

the 40 S&W is just one of many calibers i own. calling the 40 a "pansy" is just a bit conceited on your part, because you favor the 10mm. if the dead could speak, those shot and killed with a 40, i seriously doubt they would describe the 40 as a pansy. what about the 9mm? or the 380? i could go on and on, but you either get it or you don't.

I love the .22lr, compared to a .32, I'd consider it a pansy round. Same with comparing a .32 to a .357... I love shooting a 9mm, it's my most used handgun right now, but compared to a .40, it's a pansy round. And yes, further up towards the top of the chain, you'll find a .40. Behind the 10mm. But you know what? The 10mm is a pansy round next to a .50ae. I'm simply comparing one thing to something better. The 10mm will never be as good as many rounds, I can't change that, and have no desire to. I like it where it is

The OP is asking about what is a good gun to go out and buy, and you suggest a 10mm, the one that is the most hard to find ammo right now???? lol

And I'd put my 44 up against your 10mm any time of the day. Isn't that why they made the 10mm? For those who can't handle the 44 magnum?

In a home invasion, I am pointing out a 10mm has more punch that a .40. Nothing about availability was mentioned from his original post
And hey, do what you want with your .44, I'll admit I'm to much of a pansy to play with one!

I'm sure the FBI is in the labs working on a caliber just for you!
Sorry, had to point that out.

you seriously need to get off this "pansy" kick of yours. you're really starting to sound like an idiot with a complex about size issues.

shoot whatever makes you happy, but leave the "pansy" term out of it. it sounds very childish and immature.
