I prefer to think of it as "half-fast".

OK, fine-1911A1- keep in mind I'm old, and slow-

@ 60 seconds, from the time I drop the mag, till the time

I rack the slide on a live round.

Beretta92FS-@ 30 seconds, 92A1 has a captive return spring,

so @28 seconds...

Of course, how do you assign time for clearing mud?

What if you're on the ground, in the dark, in the rain?

Here's a tip:

Practice while you're watching TV, in order to

reduce the drill to "muscle memory".

"Ruger Mark 2, [still] under a minute.".. without the rain. When I get another stainless auto, I'll do the rain bit.

I have a Mark II. I can take it apart and put it back together but sometimes I can't get that Mainspring Housing back in easily.

If you have a "Mexican reload" i.e. a second weapon, who cares how long it takes to field strip and reassemble your primary??

This video shows how I do it.

The trick is having the hammer and strut in the proper positions, then pointing the gun up at the proper time.

Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.
Also having a weapon that can be covered in mud or sand and still perform is important to me.
