So I'm already planning my next gun purchase. I've narrowed it down to these two. The HS is an older "The Victor" model 5.5" barrel with barrel weight. It's a Hamden gun in about 95 to 98 percent. No box or papers. Price is $750. I've always wanted a HS Victor, but always get really close to buying and then can't seem to pony up that kind of money for a .22. Just hard to wrap my head around. I have a Ruger MK II Target and my old man has a S&W Model 41, so I'd like to add a HS Victor just to round out the collection.

Second choice is a Sig 1911 Traditional Match Elite. It has the traditional slide as opposed to Sig's proprietary slide design on their other models. It has fully adjustable target sights. It's all stainless with the frame coated in their Nitron finish for a reverse two-tone look. Price is $850.

So what would you do in this scenario?

Id have to go with the high standard. They are better built to my way of thinkin. Not knockin sigs mind you cuz they are damn good guns also but HS has alot better QC in pretty much all respects. Also the price diff would make a big telling point. That is only IF the HS is in good shape though.

I see your point. Here are some photos of the High Standard, just so you can get an idea. The little rectangle in the photo is the barrel weight. The screws are taped up inside the barrel weight to keep them from getting lost.

C'mon now fellas. I really need some advice! I was able to talk the seller down to $650 shipped. It's getting even more tempting.

I'll be getting the Sig at some point. They are great 1911s and very high quality. Fewer MIM parts than most other 1911 manufacturers. I like that they came out with a model with a traditional slide design as opposed to their own design. I've spent a lot of time behind my FIL's Nitron Carry and it's a great shooting commander.

I think the deal is going to be better on the High Standard this time though. Once I get it crossed off the wish list, it will be back to saving for the Sig Traditional Match Elite.

I have 2 HS Supermatic Trophys, both Hamden guns.
I believe they would use the same quality barrels as the Victors.
Both of mine are crazy accurate.
I put a scope on one and it just wallowed one little hole for a group.
It's a fair price, get the Victor.
