I really wonder if my springer milspec would hold up to the same abuse.

Do you think that particular gun was a freak of nature, or have the guys and gals at Hi Point have made the AK 47 of combat semi autos?

I wouldn't call it a combat semi auto...
But they built a tank. An ugly, top heavy tank, that doubles as a battleship anchor, and has epic PWP.

They are not as pretty as a 1911, but they are not any uglier than lots of other polymer guns out there. The top heavy thing I just don't know where all this comes from. Have you ever shot one. They aren't bad to hold on target, they don't try to roll over in your hand.the design itself really helps with recoil.

No they are tough pistols, AK47 of pistols no. In the one video the muddy bucket of water stopped it feeding.

I have the hi point .45 acp. shoots good with no problems. I keep it on my boat. I figure in and emergency I can use is for self defense, survival or spare anchor!!

Yeah, I'm actually one of the original FTF hi point supporters (at least I like to think so). I shot one as a teenager, and loved it. Nothing I said was derogatory, it was simply the truth.

And when people say "combat" anything, I actually think something I want in combat with me, and the hi point don't fit the bill. Sorry. My biggest issue as far as considering it for a combat handgun is ease of field stripping and field maintenance. Make it easier to break down, and I'd seriously consider it worthy of patrol duty. After a longevity test of course.
