My son has a hi point .45. was jamming every shot. He was using cheap Federal American Eagle ammo. He switched to CCI Gold Dot and hasen't had a problem since.

How does the grip help?

I bought it about a year ago.... It was brand new.... Maybe 50 round through it...

By your description It sound as if you are a new shooter, the malfunctions you are having is most likely operator error not your pistol.

what is it doing or not doing ? do you have a FTE (Failure to eject) or FTF(failure to feed/fire).
as yes you must control the recoil. and to do that you must be in control of the firearm by the use of a secure grip but, not overly tight.
how ever as it as been said don't do anything to the weapon until you have put no less than 500 rds. down range.

Yeah, you have to really have to push against those Hi-Points, or they will jam. But if you can't sort it out, send it back to them. Best warranty service in the industry.

Now that you Mention it, I only had one ftf with it but my wife had three or four the first time we shot it...thanks for the advice guy's :-)

Yea, there seems to be alot of issues with glock pistols. Our local pd hates their issued duty glocks.

Besides both glock and hi point look like milled bricks.

The only problem I've noticed with Glocks, is that they're perfect so there's not much to do to them. =)/=(
