Nice list, there. The only caveat being the Berretta 92. It's a good gun but it's rather large compared to the others on the list. About the size of a 1911.
I don't think you can go wrong with any on the list, although I'm partial to Sigs and Rugers.
I'd love to have a modern CZ and a UK.
Oh, my edc is a Sig P239. Carrying it about six years now. I love it.
Back up and "dress gun" is a ss Colt Govt. 380, although I think I should change that so I have two that operate the same.
I favor decockers over safteys.
Keep us posted.

I would also look at the CZ P07 or P09 Duty. Very comfortable pistols, shoot great. You can swap out the safety for the decocker or vice/versa.

I own a SIG P229r and its great. I was considering a Stoeger Cougar before I bought my 1911.

I second the Sig 2022 and the FN. Please shoot both.

I own a USP .45, I say USP or Sig. I don't have any exp with CZ, so I can't say anything about them.

I own an M9A1 and have shot a P95, I like both, but they have a slide mounted safety/decock. For me that's a no-no for carry, I grew up on the frame mounted safety, 1911 as in my handle.

One you didn't mention was an HK P30, although I'm not sure if they make a Variant 1 model. In HK wonderland Variant 1 is a DA/SA with a frame mounted safety/decock lever. I feel it's the best HK semi-auto setup bc you can carry hammer down with safety off(most carry this way) or you can carry cocked and locked like a 1911(hammer back with safety engaged).

Good luck and have fun!

I want either less corruption or more opportunity to participate in it.

I can vouch for the p226, CZ75B, FNX, and the CZ RAMI (if you want awesomeness in a sub-compact with DA/SA).

I would put any of the CZs mentioned here or above up (P07, P09 Duty, 75D PCR) against the p226 (I own one, so not bashing it), especially for the price, where you can probably come close to getting a full size CZ and a RAMI (or other compact/sub-compact) for almost the same price as a p226 (depending upon model). If you end up going with CZ, be sure to compare prices at www.damascusgunshop.com They have great customer service, fair prices, and have had short wait times for backorders.

It really comes down to you getting to a range and shooting each of them and see what feels best for you and which is most accurate in your hands as you said. They are all fine choices you've made.

Thanks all for your suggestions and kind words. It appears that even limiting myself to the full-size models for now I have quite a few more pistols to try out. I'll update my list when I've had a chance to check out the specs on your suggestions.

To me the Sig sp2022 is an amazing handgun.

You can add the fnx line of pistols as well. There are lots of great guns in this category.
