The whole idea of carrying a 45 is to get the stopping power of the larger, heavier bullet. Carrying a 45 loaded with light weight bullets is like owning a Porsche, with a 4 cylinder Chevy engine under the hood.

I confess, if I want to make a big hole, I like a heavy bullet to make it....JMHO. I shoot 230 grain FMJ's for practice and have just started using a Winchester SXZ Personal Protection round, 230 grain JHP for my CCW round when I carry my 1911.

I build my own practice loads to closely match my CCW rounds. That way everything feels the same and accuracy with either is as good as I can manage. I know the gun is more accurate than I am.
