Got to fire an FN Five Seven today.......

My cousin and I were bored, so we decided to go to the local indoor range and rent ourselves a few guns. He ended up renting a Smith And Wesson M&P(is that what they're called), in 9mm, and he really liked it, I thought it was pretty cool too.
What really surprised me was the FN Five Seven.......
I went in thinking it was just a novelty gun, that would have no other purpose then to be "cool"(yay, I fired the gun Sam Fisher has on Splinter Cell type a deal), but, I was very surprised.

The gun is EXTREMELY light, which of course made it easy to hold, as did the appropriate size. The trigger was the biggest surprise of them all. I expected it to have a very long, ugly trigger pull, but, to be honest, it was pretty sweet. The only gun I had ever fired to this point with a long trigger pull, and actually liked, was the Desert Eagle, and even that leaves a little to be desired, but the Five Seven was better, and quite pleasant. The recoil was another shock. I expected it to be pretty fierce, considering the velocity of the tiny bullet, but, it was actually far less then the 9mm. All in all, the pros far outweighed the cons...........however, there are some cons.
The main problem, was the magazine, which I found pretty much sucked. It was annoying to load, and caused a few FTFs(in all fairness, the gun was actually pretty dirty, which I think is an atrocity). Likewise, the safety was in a rather odd spot, and I have never been a fan of guns without a hammer.

On a closing note, I was very surprised and found the gun enjoyable. In general, I am very stuck on the 1911 designs, and often find myself turning my nose up at other designs(I do want a Sig P226 though). However, I surely wouldn't mind owning this gun and taking it to the range(don't know about the ammo availability though).

I have fired one of those with a suppressor and all you hear is the bullet cutting through the air.

Yeah, the bullet is very supersonic, so the suppressor won't do anything for that : ). But, judging by what you said, the special sub sonic 5.7mm rounds would be impressively quiet!

It's an intriguing round and pistol. Glad you liked it.

It was actually a very nice pistol! I was shocked, it was a lot more then just a novelty gun
