I've never handled an S&W that was not a quality product. Personally I'm not a fan of their auto pistol designs but that's completely subjective. I'm sure there well built, reliable, and accurate.

The trick is to always shoot it before you buy it.

I have a few S&W pistols (not that model though). The only downside I have seen is a real hard trigger pull. I carry mine and as much as I'd hate to use it, I'd be confident in it's ability if God forbid the time came to.

If you know the pistol and it's in good condition, you're fine. If it was mine, I'd have no problem carrying it.
