My suggestion is a Sig SP2022 9mm. I have one and I love it. It shoots like a dream and I've had no probs with it whatsoever. It is known for reliablity and is accurate. I don't have a big hand and it fits me like it was made for me. You can pick one up at Gunbroker.com well within your price range. I know you said you are impatient, but this gun is worth the wait. It has all the Sig quality without the bells and whistles. Great shooter. I'll never part with mine. I'm getting another in .40 S&W.
Check it out:

I know you'd be happy with it.

Default What to buy next

To go larger or smaller....
I have:
Beretta PX4 Storm Compact .40
Ruger SP101 .357 Mag
Ruger LC9
Trying to decide on what would be next to complete a nice CC collection.
Thinking either .45 ACP or .38 Special
Suggestions welcome.

Just to show you how much I like my Sig SP2022, I'm thinking of selling my XD40 5" Tactical to get the SP2022 .40 S&W. That's saying a lot, as Springfield Armory customer service is second to none, and my XD has always been a great shooter with no probs at all. I just like the SP2022 more. Sig also has a Lifetime Warranty.
Mine also came with two different grips so I could use the one that fit my hand better.

M&P Shield is the &$#t! Over a thousand rounds (.40) and couldn't be better. First 3 inch I have liked as much as the Kimber Super Carry Ultra.

Drat, that's twice now this reply has gone poof before I could finish it. New computer, but that shouldn't be doing it, should it?
Anyway, bought a new Kel-Tec P11, and knew almost instantly that was a major error. So, without even firing it, traded it in on a new Bursa Thunder .380. And been happy ever since. Have had absolutely zero problems with firing or feeding what ever brand or type of ammo I put thru it, right out of the box. No 'break in' needed. I carry it in the inside pocket of my jackets, or vest, and spare magazines in the outside left pocket. Can easily reach it if in a vehicle, unlike a belt carry, and if the jacket/vest flops open, it is out of sight, unlike in a shoulder holster. Have owned it for several years, and it works out great for me - bad joints, so can't carry my Ruger P85, too heavy and bulky, which has more penetration that I care for anyway. I would highly recommend you look into a Bursa, mine was something under $300 when I got it. I tried to convince my older son to get one, but he'd fallen in love with the Sig P238, a clone of the Colt Mustang Pocketlite, and paid $400 and something for one.

Ruger and Smith & Wesson both make affordable and reliable guns.

Go for a CZ 82 in 9mm Makarov. You can still find them for $189 to $229. They are totally reliable, very accurate and they fit most hands. Easy to carry, fast to shoot and you can buy reliable ammo for them anywhere.

I attached a picture, but I don't know if it took or not.
