I wonder when we are going to start seeing Rugers show up on more LEOs hips? I think the guns are accurate durable and affordable....is there an issue I do not know about in terms of durability or reliability? I'd trust my life with my SR40 anyday.

curious

They must not be able to beat out glock or m&p in trials would be my guess. I know I love my sr thus far

That, or they don't give them away in droves like Glock does or have the brand name for heavier-duty firepower that S&W does.....

I highly recommend the Sig Sauer P229. The fact that it's standard issue should save you pocket book as well!

I agree with those who've said to find out which 40s the Toledo PD and adjacent agencies accept for duty use. Odds are they will be polymer so you might have to reconsider that point. Myself, I prefer the Glock 23 especially a Gen 4 which has different backstraps to fit more hand sizes. The Glock 22 is slightly larger and the Glock 27 is smaller. All three are .40S&W.

thought i would just repost this. i already found out what the department uses so yea. ill test out a P229 at the range when i have enough money. they also issue a Sig P226 in .40 to some officers.

I have the P229 SAS E2 model and love it. Very reliable and makes for a very dependable gun. the .40 is very smooth. Pop in a .357 conversion barrel and it gets a bit snappy. But not too bad.

The Sig P229 is a pretty high quality piece. I think the SAS model has rounded corners to avoid snagging a shirt when drawing/holstering. Maybe not important when in uniform, but off-duty or in plain clothes it may be useful.
