I say Sr9c ruger. The size is great recoil is not bad either. My wife loves it and has taken it as hers. Also my 13 year old daughter shoots it better than us. Another great gun is the xd.

Look into the Ruger SR9c and Sig P239. The P239's single stack frame fits a lot of women really well. An alloy CZ 2075 RAMI might be a decent double-stack option.

One reason so many in the firearms business push women toward revolvers for carry is because they assume the gun will most likely be carried in a purse. And a revolver can fire and cycle reliably from within the confines (and amidst all the clutter) of a purse. Not so much the case with semi-autos.

S&W 3913LS "Lady Smith". 3 1/2 barrel, 9mm, single stack. Very nice for concealed carry.

Try one out at a gunshop before you buy. The springs are a bit stiffer than some. Some people complain but, I don't find it too bad.

I have a Beretta 96, which is the same as a 92fs and they slide is EASY to pull back, but its also well broken in. The recoil is light and it is dead on accurate, my only complaint is the grip size, slim line grips are available, though I've never tried them. Also, it is a full size handgun, but great for home defense in my opinion.

The New Agents have a "trench sight" system. Nothing to snag.

Huh, that's different. Don't think I'd have one, but I see its purpose.

I'll see if the GF is interested. Thanks for all the suggestions everyone.
