I hate to admit this, but when I was 10 yrs old I point-shot my "Skee-Ball" gun (anybody remember those? little plastic spring-powered thing that shot soybeans like a champ) in just the manner 5-shot recommends. It worked great! But I would hate to try that on anything with a moving slide or the cylinder flash on a revolver. A technique best left to ignorant 10 year olds most likely.

I have carried the 1911 for 35 yrs. I have found no design flaws, the weapon has worked perfect for me. As I have been taught god has given us two hands, use them. When the ammo runs out it makes a hell of a club, Be aware of your surrounding and If night time is a problem, I have found a nice part of night sights works wonders, line up the dots and pull the trigger. Dont try and get fancy keep it simple. If its not broke, dont try and fix it.

It's REDILY apparent you have absolutely NO actual practical/properly trained experience with 1911 pistols. You are merely an "keyboard cowboy", with nothing better to do than attempt to stir up controversy on a matter that DON'T exist. It is NOT fact as you claim to be a flaw on the 1911 platform. Do yourself a HUGE favor and research something next time, and gain some education of the subject at hand, before criticizing and writing untrue statements. There is NO such flaw to the 1911 type of pistols as you claim when PROPERLY holding/firing them. This is something you SHOULDN'T have posted until you were able to determine IF it was even true or not. Myths are NOT facts, and howsomeever you try-it WON'T make them true.

Here is a link to it: http://www.pointshooting.com/1911.htm
It deals with CQB situations, not target practice or range shooting.

The author needs to be educated on proper use of the 1911 and needs to be corrected in his theory of 1911 design. The members of this forum are helping him with that, so the thread stands.

Does not interest me in the slightest. Stick with the traditional tried and true methods that have been proven millions of times.
