Maybe I just don't understand this all that well but wouldn't that put your index finger in a dangerous spot? It kind of seems like with the pinky and ring finger holding it that you could hurt your index finger on the recoil from the slide.

5Shot........ Sir, It is my opinion that your decision to author articles, or rework articles relating to firearms techniques, or pointing out "flaws" in one of the most venerable firearms ever produced, was not the best decision you ever made. I'm not sure who coined the quote that "it's sometimes best to remain silent and let yourself be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt..." , but I think your posts in this thread have approached the application of that quote.

I applaud your intention, but the substance just isn't there.

I would strongly suggest the author do some research in the Israeli Technique of "Point Shooting". I think you will find that they know a little something about pistol combat tactics and they certainly DO NOT advocate holding the weapon in such a fashion.

I look forward to the rest of the 1911 owners here reviewing the work and giving their opinions. This should be interesting.

For me - if anyone is advocating using their pointing finger along the slide of any modern handgun, then pulling the trigger with your middle finger, thereby leaving two fingers and a thumb actually holding the grip of the weapon - You are out of your frickin' mind.

What do you think guys??

I think this is BOGUS. There is NO WAY I will use my middle finger for anything other than giving this guy the BIRD!

Here I thought this was going to be a good conversation about the grip safety.

I'm disappointed...

The "second-finger-on-trigger" hold brings back memories of a few good dates...

The latter works well on Area 51 and Time Crises, but I'll stick to the old-school Cops-and-Robbers "normal" hold if push ever came to trigger pull.
You must be talking about a CZ75B. 40 cal. GREAT pistol! I'll stick with the old-school fingering...

Default 1911

how the heck do you hold the gun when it fires ball.I think I would drop it and I have been shooting compitition since the 1960s.[no more]and try it with a revolver.he is refering to a muzzle loader.the refrence is to dueling pistols, what has that got to do with 1911.I could hit you in dark with 1911.it is such a natural pointer.and at short range 10 ft,you got to be kidding.
I dont ridicule posters on web.ha ha.

Well.............the article is different.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Maybe what we can take away from this is don't shoot any pistol using your middle finger. Truthfully, I haven't heard of anyone properly trained firing a pistol that way. Maybe I'm not up to speed on latest events.

Nope Sarge, you're not confused nor are you behind the times.

Middle-finger trigger action is nothing less than a can of crapola that some young twerp contrived to try to make a name for himself... Yes sir, CRAPOLA.
