Larger capacity with similar balistics and lighter recoil. Although capacity isn't an issue here in MA
I asked my firearms instructor his opinion on what I should get for my first gun. He was currently in the process of choosing a new firearm for his department at the time, and was pretty sold on the M&P 40. I figured the guy knew what he was talking about and if a gun is good enough for police to use, its good enough for me.
I'm saving the 45 caliber for when I a 1911.
