You may want to look at the hi point forums. Like said, it is most likely the mag. I had a problem like that with my taurus, was an easy fix.
Rain, snow or sleet.... Mud, sand and dirt.... My GLOCK will work ;)
Do as Cane suggests & try it with one less round. If that stops it, tell him to load the mag up full & let it set for a week or so then try it again.
