Alot of people ask me why you buy so much ammunition all the time. My response to them is it ever enough? People think I'm weird but I don't care don't come to me when you need some ammos. Lol

Wally World had a sale on 9MM the other day. I told the lady I needed some and she pulls out a box. I asked how many more there were and she said five more. I told her I would take them all and she just gave me this weird look. People don't understand that you can go through 100 rounds in an hour at the range. 600 rounds? Whhhhooooooo watch out!

I get the same thing from friends, coworkers, and family so don't fret maybe one day they will get it.

I go to Wally World probably once a week ammo shopping. They have the cheapest ammo anywhere. They sell Federal Champion 9mm FMJ in the 100 round value pack for $19.95. You can get close to that by mail, but then you pay shipping. They also carry American Eagle AR223. The stuff in the little black boxes. Their price is $5.99 a box. Less than 30 cents a round. Great for general shooting. Well the other day, I was up there with the wifey and the shelf was stocked up. It's much easier to track down a deer in the woods, then to find help at Wal Mart, so after I found someone to help me, I told the guy I wanted some of the American Eagle 223 ammo. He unlocked the case and said "How many you want?". I said "All of them". Wished I'd had a camera to catch the look on his face. It was only about 20 boxes, so it wasn't like I was buying a cart load. Besides they don't have it in that often. It sells out fast when they do get it. So if I happen to be there when they have it it, I grab it.

Not shooting at all these days due to health issues, but when I do I don't really shoot that much. Can't afford it. But I keep a sizable stash of ammo on hand. I let myself get caught short when the big run on ammo hit a few years back, and I was scrounging. Not going to get caught in that situation again.

I keep remembering the days of the .380 shortage when folks were scrambling to find it & paying unreasonable prices when they did. My wife had bought a .380 & I was lucky enough to scrounge enough ammo to break it in & load with some SD rounds. Then waited until the drought was over to add a .380 to my collection.

Now, every time I go to wally world, I stop by the ammo case & get a box or two of whatever caliber I shot last, whether I need it or not. Used to have room for my ammo in my gun firesafe. But, have had to get a couple smaller firesafes for my ammo. Can't ever have too much (it'll last a loooong time in dry storage), but can certainly have too little if you're not careful.

I like to keep a base-stock in inventory, plus a ranger-stock to shoot the next trip to the range. When I shoot the range-stock, I make an effort to replenish and not to diminish the base-stock. I like to keep the base-stock and the range-stock in rotation.

I love the TV series "The Walking Dead". But one thing that killed me was the part near the beginning when rick broke into an armory and made off with a bunch of guns. Rifles, pistols, shotguns, dozens of guns. All he could carry. Screw that. If you are all alone against hundreds of zombies, or anything else, what do you need worse, 50 guns? Or 1 gun with 1000 rounds of ammo. Every disaster movie you ever see people are breaking into gun stores and grabbing all the guns they can get. I'm the guy over there with one pistol and one rifle, emptying the ammo shelf. Without ammo, a gun is just a club, and not a very good one at that.

I always buy my ammo (9mm, 223 & 7.62x39) per 500s or 1000s each. And they all last around 2-3 months. I get them online. And to me owning 3000s at a time seem never enough. ;(. *wishing i have a holeproof pocket*

Haha my son and I had this same conversation. He's obsessed with the zombie apocalypse and the military, kind of like I was at nine...lol. Anyway, he said man, we are lucky because we have lots of types of guns so if something happens, we'll be ready. I said no bud, we need lots of the same type of gun and even more ammo. That way we can repair our guns and we only have to worry about loading them with one kind of round that we can stockpile.

Kind of naive I know, but hey, it's a conversation with a nine year old...lol.
