Default EAA Witness Compact Poly 9mm

My local Cabela's (Lacey, WA) has the EAA Witness Compact Poly 9mm for $300 until 9/23. It has the 3.6" barrel and holds 16+1 rounds. It's another CZ 75 clone, made by Tanfoglio of Italy. Does anybody have any experience with this gun, good or bad, that you can provide? I want a nine, but not sure if I should buy a clone for less or just step up and get a "mainstream" gun like a Glock 19. It would just be for range use, HD, and occasional carry. Thanks!

Holy Crap! Lacey has a Cabela's? I haven't been there in a while. (Timberline HS class of 84)
Anyway, I have an EAA Witness Match (.45), I like it. I will admit that I'm not familiar with the polymer guns. But if they are as good a the steel frame guns, you will probably be happy. For the money, knowing what I know, I'd probably roll the dice. YMMV.
Note: EAA has a less than stunning reputation for customer service. But then, I've not needed them for anything either.

People may say what they will about EAA's CS, but when I have called I have been treated great. Still, I only had to call a couple of times, and that was only to order some stuff... Over the years, I have had 5 Witness pistols; an Elite Match 10mm (which is the most amazing and accurate pistol I have ever fired), a steel FS 9mm, a steel FS .45, a steel compact .45, and a poly .40 (picked up on the same sale you are looking at, but from a different vendor). If you are considering making the purchase, don't consider, just do it. You won't be sorry. There isn't another pistol on the market today that represents that same value. Mine take abuse you wouldn't believe and always shred through EVERYTHING I feed them. Better than one of my CZs. Spend an extra $40 for 2 more mags and you will never have to worry about that pistol again. Buy with confidence, my good sir! Here's a pic or two of mine...
